The Fat Smash Diet

While at my son's basketball game a few Saturday's ago my sister-in-law had mentioned some type of new diet book that was a best-seller right now. As usual, I blew it off. Well, last week while visiting with my sister my mother stops by after work and happens to have the very book my sister-in-law was talking about - The Fat Smash Diet. My mother said a girl she works with is on it and has lost 15 pounds in 15 days and hasn't even started working out yet. She said it has just melted off her.
I usually discount this stuff but decided to give it a whirl. I decided this because I have been going to the YMCA between 3 to 5 times per week since the beginning of January and haven't lost a single pound! I feel as though things are changing on my body but when you're 5 foot tall and weigh what I weigh somethin's gotta give. I'm killing myself for 40 minutes on that crazy elliptical machine and lifting enough weight to tone up. I've tried not to worry too much but I'm hitting 41 this March and enough is enough!!
So, to finally get to the end of this story - I started this thing today and I'm having trouble being positive. I really want to eat a BIG FAT STEAK and a GIANT YEAST ROLL!!! Dipped in butter!!!
I believe this is a great diet for life but it's just that my life-long habits are hard to change. I'm supposed to eat every three hours to keep up my metabolism. I've also involved my kids in the frequent meal eating and they are a little confused with whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner time.
I would say wish me luck but I believe I need more than that - pray for me please!
Here's an e-mail I sent to my mother this afternoon who started the same diet yesterday:
I've had my second meal already. I'm dying! I decided I'm going to involve the kids in the frequent eating schedule - I figured it could only be good for them. I'm making tacos for dinner and they can eat that way in the evening and I'll eat SOMETHING! - I'm afraid it just might be my leg!

I guess I'll save my rice for dinner.
I tried to start yesterday and only got mad at myself and ate two brownies. BUT, at least they're gone now and I don't have to look at them anymore. :) I've got my grapes soaking in the sink right now. Can't wait to eat them.

I'm feeling a strong desire for BREAD and MEAT!

So, what does this new diet boil down to? No meat or bread and eating 6 small meals a day?

Leslee - a 9 day detox of fresh foods - Phase I. Raw, boiled or steamed. All the vegetables and fruits you want and 2 cups brown rice per day. You can have beans.

After the 9 day detox you can eat meat but only baked or broiled and you stick with a program for 3 weeks - Phase II.

And YES - you eat every three hours. Thank goodness because I've been starving today. BUT, it only takes a little bit of food to satisfy the hunger.

Wow, that's quite a diet there, but I understand the need to detoxify. I might have to try that out, but 9 days seem so many!

Well, I fell off the detox wagon! I think maybe I picked the wrong time to start. I don't know. I've had a pounding headache for three days (sinus).

I think I might try just the diet itself and skip the detox. I'm such a slug.

You're more ambitious than I. A big part of the reason why I ride a bike is that I don't have the discipline to radically alter my eating habits.

Good luck!

Badoozer - you poor thing.

Foo - Well, I was working out thinking the same thing. BUT, that's just not good enough to get way down like I need to.

I'm back on it today and feeling great! The last few days were really not good days (physically & mentally) to get started on it.

WooHoo!!
