My New "Traveling" Buddy

At my request, dear Hubby bought us both these little pedometers so we can increase our exercise. I'm going to be 40 in March and I really would like to at least get down to pre-kid weight. I'll not mention the amount.

I just figured out how to work it and put it on. I have to go out and about today so it will be interesting to see how much I walk during a regular day out.

I've lost 5 pounds since Sunday. I told myself not to eat after 7:00 p.m. and I've increased my water intake. Not to mention reducing carbohydrates. We are trying to eat our biggest meal first (breakfast). Not as much for lunch and very light for dinner.

I have to walk 10,000 steps? Can't wait to see the amount by bed time. Wish me luck

Later taters!

I wish you well on your endeavor. Aunt J and I will be checking in on you, encouraging etc. Maybe you can do the same for us as we are both aiming for a 20lb wt. loss by march.

That is my goal this year, to just get my butt moving and get in shape. I am so unfit and flubbery :). I feel your pain with the laundry. I can't ever get caught up on it either. hang in there!

GO ANNIE!!

Let's exchange some good recipes to help us in our journey...K?

I'll share one after work today. I am doing "medical research" right now...code for sneaky blogging at work.

Hey, Uncle and Aunt Jo. I'm gonna join you in that 20 lb by March goal, okay?

Anne, girl I'm telling you, you need to get DDR (dance dance revolution). That will increase the number of steps in a day for sure. :-)

So how far is 10,000 steps supposed to be. I'm curious to find out if you'll go way over, or be short. I don't even have a clue! :)

You bipeds and your walking. Bah.

---- CYCLIST PROPAGANDA BEGINS ----
Get a bicycle. You'll go farther and faster, thus making it less likely that you'll get bored with the scenery. By scenery, I mean trees and flowers and stuff—not just your fellow cyclists in their colorful jerseys and tight lycra shorts.

Speaking of which, those shorts add an incentive to ride more and stay in shape. I shouldn't have to spell out the reasons why.

Oh, one more thing: panty lines are a Bad Thing™.
---- CYCLIST PROPAGANDA ENDS ----

But seriously. Good luck with your new year's fitness goals. I'll be right there with you, in spirit, as I try to regain ground lost and pounds gained over the holidays.

If you're just starting out, I'd suggest that you start out easy and concentrate on getting into the habit of exercising. You can (and will) increase your walking distance and speed as you become more fit, but if you try to do to much too soon, you may become discouraged and give up before you get into a regular exercise routine.

Uncle Jo - Thanks for the encouragement. I'll need it.

Susie - taters - can't have them. Not considered and appropriate carbohydrate. Unless eaten with a salad and not a steak. MMMMM...s t e a k.

berrymom - It's great to know I'm not alone. Thanks!

Kish - thanks for visiting. I'm just so tired of being a "fat mom".

Auntie J - Where's that recipe. I'm not good at recipes unless it's for baking.

Jennifer - You're not kidding. I DO need that dancin' thing. If there's anything I like to do it's dancing. Maybe I'll do that instead with the kids.

Ivey - 10,000 steps is A LOT. I only did a little over 1,300 yesterday. What a sorry butt I am. I don't get a lot of movement while sitting with my son doing school. And then I had to drive around in the car the rest of the afternoon. I DID walk around the Whole Foods store but not enough I guess.

Get a motorcyle and you'll go even farther and faster!! "Wide Open Till You See God, Then Brake" as written on one of my many biking t-shirts.

Motorcycles are cool, but based on the quite a few of the bods I see tooling around on them, I'm guessing that riding one must not burn a lot of calories.

Sorry, I forgot, maybe Uncle Joe will help me remember tonight instead of bugging me relentlessly.

Does anyone else say your word verification out loud? I am weird. i try to make it a word and use it. maybe i can stump slick

Foo - too funny! You aint kiddin' about the bods on the bikes. I wasn't out of shape when I rode mine ("when" is the key word here). By the way, I DO have a "bike" that requires peddling - it wakes the entire neighborhood if I hit the brakes - it was free. Someone found it in their front yard and no one ever claimed it so it's mine now. The only problem is that I feel like a giant baked potato propped up on two toothpicks when I'm riding it. I do hope to ride it more when I finally get my daughter to ride HER bike (she's 3). She doesn't like to ride as much as her brother. And I don't trust myself to put a seat thingy on the back for her.

Aunti J - where is that recipe?
