You Say It's Your Birthday!

On this day, forty-two years ago, some parents brought forth to this world a new baby - her name was Anne. Anne was born in an army base hospital on her grandfather's birthday. Her grandfather was too excited to wait to see her so he stold a hospital uniform (so the story goes) in order to sneak in to take a peek.

Of these 42 years of life with which Anne has been blessed, she would say that the past eight years have been the best - all the rest was just leading up to this point. In these last eight years Anne became a mother and then, most importantly, several months afterward became a Christian. This new life was added to already being blessed with a marriage to a most wonderfully loving man.

Although Anne's physical birth was on this day forty-two years ago, her true birthday was June 9, 2000 when she was buried with Christ through baptism (Rom. 6:4) - "an antitype which now saves us" (1Peter 3:21).

There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him." 3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again , he cannot see the kingdom of God." 4 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" 5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again .' 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." (John 3:1-8)

Anne's physical years cause her body to grow older and more weary but her spiritual years cause her spirit to grow stronger and more steadfast. "...let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith..." (Heb. 12:1-2)
