Praise - Criticism

I received a publication in the mail a few days ago called "Faith Lift" that was sent to me from a friend. I wanted to share a little quote - I need to write this on post-it notes and stick them at every turn:

Give praise in public,
Give criticism in private,
especially with children!
(Isn't that how you like to be treated?)

Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, just as you also are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11) NASB
I Challenge You: Give praise to each person with whom you come into contact today. Extra points are given for swallowing your criticism.
Challenge #2: Create a blog post praising someone. Extra points if it's someone with whom you struggle.
Link back to me if you've completed the challenge.

Woman - I read your post and it was wonderful!! I couldn't comment because I don't have an account yet.

Dingle DoozerDorf - I guess you could praise yourself. :)

I like to complain in public about lots of things, like boys at the gym and dings in doors but I do it in a humorous way to make people laugh. Then they realize it's not really that big of a deal and it makes them happy. So, it's all good, right?

I did not man up and take the challenge. I try very hard to make that a habit with the people who work under me, and with my wife and friends.

I struggle with just about everyone who works under me, so I'll pat myself on the back for my regular efforts there :) (lol)

Very nice. I don't know that I can come up with a blogger with whome I struggle. I don't have enough time to get around to the blogs of people I do like, much less the ones I don't. But I get the point, and I'm one of the world's worst about criticizing people. I ask a lot of myself, and I (foolishly) expect a lot of others--which means I'm usually disappointed.

But what do you do about your own self-criticism? Technically, it's private, but it's all public to you.
