"Song Sung Blue"

Well, I'm going to be singing in a wedding tomorrow. Wait a minute, I'm singing in a wedding today given the hour of the morning it is here. It's at 4:30. I have been sick for weeks over this. Ask Funky-Redhead; I was at her house Thursday night singing these crazy songs for her just to get reassurance that it's all going to be "okay". It's just that it has been a while since I've had to sing in a wedding and singing in a wedding is NOT at ALL like being on stage in a club (my old days).

A wedding is such a special day for the bride and groom and you just don't want to be the one who ruined it all. So many factors have been plaguing me - the sound system, the accompaniment, the harmony parts for the duet, one of the songs is not in a good key for me - and on, and on it goes. I'm very particular when it comes to singing and performing. It's got to be right and it's got to be tight - no exceptions.

I remember a lesson I heard from the pulpit last week or so ago about being "distracted". Man have I been distracted. I get so worked up over "things" and fail to realize that I have no control over it in the first place. I DO have my part to play but I am by far NOT in control. Why don't I rely on Him? Even for these little things? Well, I finally "saw the light" so to speak and just let it go. Take this worry away from me. Well, I get to the rehearsal this evening and it was "all good". Parts were right on and I nailed my solo song.

But you know what? Even if it wasn't good - it wasn't worth the "distraction". So, be thinking of me HubbaDooees at about 4:30 p.m. Eastern time on this pleasant Saturday. I just hate distractions.

P.S. I'll be singing "Marry Me" by Neil Diamond and "There Is Love (Wedding Song)" by Paul Stookey.

Enjoy the weekend!

Emmers - Oooo Weee! I went over there and after much typing and getting worked up - I decided to "let it go". Got to thinkin' about that whole "distraction" thing again. I know and believe my choice to home school is right for us. I believe it is right for all. But, I don't believe it to be a salvation issue and therefore I choose to not debate the issue. Believe me - I'm a debater and that was hard for me to back away from. Also, I thought you were doing a great job without me fumbling around in it.

Do you have songs up on a site or anything? You should if you don't! Sounds like we have lots in common!

Rachel - How do you put songs up on a site? Even so, I don't have any good recordings.
