This next photo is of the kids and some of the parents looking at the spring that Lincoln's family used to get their water - Sinking Spring Farm.
It took about an hour and a half to get to our destination for the field trip. At some point during the tour I remembered The Hubbs wanted to take the kids to the balloon glow that evening. I was in no way very happy about remembering that. But, before our departure, I asked a favor from one of the moms to call The Hubbs for me (because I have no phone - I think I'm the only one on the planet besides the elderly without a cell phone) to tell him we'd meet him at his mother's house (this is because I didn't want to drive all the way back home and then back into Louisville.
The great thing about my mother-in-law is that she is such a wonderful grandmother. Her home is always welcome and there's always food cookin'. Needless to say, The Hubbs met us there and we all (including the grandparents) crammed in the van and set off to the state fairgrounds to view the ballon glow. The kids had a great time and it was fun because they had fun.
We DID forget how bad the parking is at the fairgrounds. I do believe we spent more time in our car than we did viewing the balloons.
All in all, it was a good day. I'll be back again to post the continuing story of events in the Derby City.

You're making me homesick for the land of my ancestors.
What fun !
Uncle Joe - come on down, over, whatever.
58 - We did have a good time. We have some friends who used to be balloon chasers (before children). Can't imagine being a balloon chaser but she just raves about how much fun she and her husband had.
Ballons are so pretty but NOISY! When I was a kid, my parents took us to the yearly Rose Festival balloon event. Very fun, I'll never forget it.
